A friend once said that, if one could find a shrub to be a mighty forest and have magical creatures living in it then life would be marvelous and truly beautiful. So are we all in search of our very own magical shrub that will awaken us from our slumber and beckon us to our very own adventure. We could then be anyone we wanted to be and live our dreams.
Most of us have grown up with all these fantasies but in our daily life we fail to see the magic that is there in our everyday life. Like what makes the sun come up every morning sounding the bell for another new day and another wonderful adventure. But then, we all remember a time we were full of expectation and anxiety at the start of a new day. Yet very little of it remains now.
We have lost something of our childhood and maybe of our youth in this never ending chase for success in our lives. Whatever it may be. We count the number of holidays in a year, the amount of money we earn, the number of friends we have or the number of places we have seen.
I know it will sound like a cliche when I say that everything that counts can not be counted nor everything that can be counted counts. Let us not just experience the world through our 5 senses but also through our minds.
Now I know why in the ancients considered the mind to be a sense organ because without it nothing would make sense. And with it we can turn the most mundane thing in this world into a work of art. What mesmerises us today in the realm of science, religion or architecture. Whether it be the great discovery in science such as e=mc2 or the four fold truths of Gautama Buddha or the Taj Mahal in the sphere of architecture all started from a seed of thought.
Yet today we find few of the thoughtful people around. We all admire free thinking but very few of us practice deep thinking or introspection.
Our old way of life is slowly dying in a world led by only the five senses. The centre of our universe is the next thing we want to possess. But alas, we are not concerned with controlling our own thoughts. Man has slowly given its thinking power to machines and his mind runs from one object to the other.
A thought is a very powerful thing and it can change our lives in very significant ways. So I urge you my friend to spare a thought for your our own life and the next.
